Your Resume’s Contact Information

It’s March. Maybe you already realized that your “new year, new you” resolution would be helped by a new job. Maybe, like our former national security adviser, you find yourself suddenly in need of a new source of income. If you are starting from scratch with a resume (or revamping one after a long time) don’t forget to include or update these few things.

First and foremost, you need to start with the ways in which a potential employer can contact you.

  1. Name – Stick to what’s on your diploma or what is listed on your LinkedIN.
  2. Phone number – Answer professionally every time even with voicemail. If you still have music as a ring back tone, STOP IT. Google Voice provides you with a personal number. Try their service if you don’t have access to another phone.
  3. Email – Use a combination of your name or initials to keep it professional.

Your contact information is the first statement of your professionalism. These are quick, doable actions to improve your chances.

Make it count!
